I met Michael DeZubiria after he came back from 4 years of teaching in China, as a university “professor”.  I asked him how he went about teaching English, and he explained that his job was a combination of “entertainment, motivational speaking, disciplinarian, and tape recorder.”  This didn’t sound like a very compelling way to describe teaching, but he seemed to enjoy the job, and reports he was well received, and asked to keep coming back for another one year contract.

I then asked Michael if he could encapsulate somehow the 1o most important lessons he tried to give his students.  Here’s #1.
